February 2024: Les Agathois Père et Fils

What a birthday present for Sylvain and Eusebio, father and son, who came to visit us from Agde with the firm intention of taking on the local fish. Accustomed to bluefin tuna fishing in the Mediterranean, they quickly realized that exotic fishing is a very physical sport, with temperatures and intense sunshine that have nothing to do with conditions in the south of France. The first two days were testing and difficult, with few catches and small sizes, only a nice Gallo caught in front of Cebaco (+/- 20 Kg) by Sylvain.

The following day, after a trip to the store to buy a few lures, the catches were more regular and of better sizes, including a nice Broomtail Grouper on the jigg and numerous other catches on the bottom, with a fair number of fish and stone breaks, requiring an express trip to Santiago for new purchases before leaving for a 3-day bivouac.

Bivouacking for the last three days on the Punta Naranja side will enable us to be on the hotspots early in the morning and to have much more success, particularly with Grouper, Gallos, Blue or Horse-eye trevally, Scierras makerel and a magnificent Pargo Roquero caught with a Popper by Eusebio on the Punta Ventana side.

Sylvain also took a magnificent Gallo with a lively Cojinoa. The bivouac took place under excellent conditions and included an anthology meal with fresh lobsters grilled over a wood fire on the beach - pure happiness!

All in all, an excellent stay in a good atmosphere and good spirits.

do it again whenever you like, thanks again to both of you for your perseverance!
