December 2023: The Saussanais in Exo

In early December, we welcome a group of friends from Saussan in the south of France, near Montpellier. There will be 6 of them, including 5 anglers, all beginners in exotic fishing, aged between 48 and 81. The challenge for us is to get them to catch big fish on lures. The group will be divided in two so as to alternate one day of fishing with a day of rest and discovery of the surrounding area.

We got off to a difficult start, with only 4/5 small trevally on the first day. We had to devise a strategy more suited to our anglers. It was decided to vary the pleasures with live bait fishing for gambas and sardines. We'll be using this technique for the next two days, so that both groups can enjoy it. The Corvinas (Maigres) and Pargos will be on hand, with fish between 2 and 8 pounds in abundance that will delight our anglers and our fisherwoman Joelle.

The next two days were devoted to offshore trolling, in search of Dorados (Coryphene Bream) with small "Brujas" skirted lures. The two days of trolling were a total success, with a dozen catches per day of between 20 and 30 pounds each, much to the delight of all our anglers.

The last two days will be devoted to the search for popper trevally, having received information of very heavy activity behind the island of Cébaco. Two crazy afternoons of sight-fishing on 10 to 20 kg jacks that throw themselves at anything that moves; some twenty fish a day, with epic battles, especially for Pierre, the eldest at 81 years of age, who had his eyes and arms full of them. A total success
